Make tart colors
The bright colors bring life and originality to a room. In order to create the major shade, you will need to mix the primary colors together to get the desired shade:

- orange is obtained by mixing red and yellow. The more red you put, the more the shade will be sustained.
- Green is obtained by mixing blue and yellow. The bluer you put, the darker the green.
- purple is obtained by mixing blue and red.
- brown is obtained by mixing green and red.

Black is useful for darkening a color. Be careful however to use only a few drops at the risk of completely covering the color.
Make pastel shades
Nothing like pastel colors to bring softness to a room. So, to make a pastel shade, you just simply add white paint to it.

- Pastel pink is obtained by mixing 1/3 of red for 2/3 of white.
- Pastel green is obtained by mixing blue and yellow to which white is added to reduce the hue. A simpler version is to take a green paint already made and then shade it by adding white directly.

You will do the same for any color you want to make pastel.
To create shades or lighter shades, all you have to do is add white at your convenience to the base color in order to obtain the color you want. A color chart can help you get the shade you want.

How to mix paints
There are two different ways to create your paint shades yourself. The first is to mix natural pigments or to add dyes in white paint. The second is to mix different ready-made paints together.

It is advisable to start your mixes in small pots in order to experiment until you get the desired color. This will avoid wasting too much paint. Similarly, once you have obtained the shade you want, remember to write down the proportions you used so that you can then reproduce the mixture in larger pots. Let the shaded rest once the mixture is obtained so that you can observe the final result and make adjustments if necessary.

How to test your shades
Before you start painting a complete wall or an entire room, it is essential to test the shade you have created. To do this, choose an inconspicuous place and apply a little of the paint you have made. Then let the paint dry to see what the final result of the tint looks like. If you have chosen a light shade, then apply several coats. If, on the contrary, your shade is dark, apply only one or two coats. Finally, be aware that certain shades require waiting two weeks before you can see the final result.
